Masca is a hamlet in Tenerife, Canary Islands (Spain) located at the northwest tip of the island and belongs to the municipality of Buenavista del Norte. Reaching a maximum altitude of 750 m. and distant 11 km from the town of Buenavista del Norte. It currently has 121 persons [1].
Masks can be found in deep ravines and cliffs that end in the Atlantic Ocean between the vegetation and curved roads. It has the reputation of being a hideout for pirates. Masca is also notable for its traditional architecture, even though most of its buildings have no great antiquity. In a large fire that occurred in the northern mountains of the island in July 2007 the village was burnt down and many of the buildings that were destroyed were, in addition to the vegetation of its surroundings.
